I may be in a cave with dirt walls lit only by torchlight, but in that cave I've got a little farm growing lovely, chunky vegetables and a cooking pot where I can combine them for yummy meals. I've built bridges over dark, bottomless chasms and slashed through chambers filled with wriggling larvae only to find the perfect serene fishing spot in a underground pond.
You’ll come across plenty of naturally occurring food, but it’s not nearly as effective as the health boost and Em excesso perks you can get from learning to cook.
You can't really make these items until you get to the mid-game, either, so take advantage of the Core's Waypoint in the early game and build your base near it!
You will spawn into the world on top of a Waypoint and in front of the Core. Surrounding the Core are three statues.

While the likes of Terraria and Valheim continue to hog headlines, Core Keeper offers strong competition. Its compelling gameplay, excellent art style, and extensive range of content make it worth diving in.
In the endgame though, its a completely different expieirence, where a lot of the bosses are basically a walking wall of death, that kills the player instantly after touching them. Melee also have a lot of "HP on hit" items, Core Keeper Gameplay which just feels like pure cheese to play with, tbh.
Permanent max health foods have also been omitted. They are rare to find optional extras that will help make a playthrough easier by slightly increasing a character's base health.
The third boss is a ridiculous jump in difficulty, though after crafting some life, defensive and offensive potions, he went down easily as well. None of these bosses felt particularly interesting to fight, rewarding to beat, or worth refighting (the game allows you to for additional loot, but i found the loot to not be worth the time spent).
If you like games in this genre, then you'll love it, and even if you don't like games in this genre, this could be the one that converts you.
